The Raiders are interested in Adrian Peterson

So... The Oakland Raiders would like Adrian Peterson to join their team in 2015.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said that he was told by a source who is informed of the team's thinking that the team has become interested in acquiring the 30 year old Running Back. This becomes interesting, because the team has lost Darren McFadden, a 1st round pick in 2008 who really never got the chance to play consistently healthy, and signed former Redskins backup Roy Helu Jr.

Acquiring Peterson would give Derek Carr and the rest of an offense a boost that the Raiders haven't seen in a very long time. However, one must wonder whether the Raiders have the cards to do so?

The Vikings are willing to let Peterson go, but it would be a lucrative deal that would be in the Vikings favor. Maybe the #4 overall pick for the 3 time all pro?

Would the Raiders be willing to do that? At the moment, Oakland is in perfect position to draft a WR who will boost the passing game, or a defensive player to compliment last season's addition Khalil Mack. Either way, the Raiders really can't afford to give up the #4 pick for anyone.

    Even Adrian Peterson?

Let's face the facts. Yes, Peterson has had a phenomenal career in the NFL. He's run for 10190 yards over 8 seasons, despite running for a total of 75 in 1 game last season, and 91 total TD's. But he's 30 years old. He has 2054 career carries. Remember that he had an ACL surgery back in 2011, and sometimes that will wear out, especially after a long 2097 yard season back in 2012.

The Raiders can snatch a back in the 2nd or 3rd round who can develop into a great player, maybe not a Peterson, for a lot cheaper then the Raiders would pay to have Adrian Peterson.

The Raiders aren't one player away from winning the Super Bowl. I really like what Reggie McKenzie is doing in there, but adding Peterson would be a typical mistake that the Raiders make to try and excite the fan base.

That's not a good reason to sign Adrian Peterson.
